Läckö Castle

Läckö Castle is best known as Magnus de la Gardie´s magnificent castle on the shores of Lake Vänern, but it is much older by far. In 1298 Brynolf Algotsson, Bishop of Skara, laid the foundations for a fortified castle here.

The exhibitions of Läckö castle are very popular and attract thousands of visitors every year.

During July an opera is held in the evenings in the courtyard.

Opera in the courtyard

”L´Italiana in Algeri” The Italian girl in Algiers by Rossini. Sung in Swedish. First performance on July 11th, followed by shows every Tue+Wed, Fri+Sat until August 1st. Tickets can be bought at the Tourist Office in Lidköping

NOTICE: The castle is closed 3rd of June.

Directions

The Castle is situated 25 kilometers north of Lidköping on the Kållandsö insel. Follow the brown roadmarks "Läckö slott".

You can also reach the castle by bus 132 from the centre of Lidköping.
