Celebrations in Gothenburg

Not all Swedes head to the countryside for Midsummer – plenty will join the celebrations in and around Gothenburg. Events will take place in the city centre and there will be boat tours to the close-by archipelago islands, too.

Gunnebo House and Gardens
A traditional Midsummer celebration will take place at Gunnebo House and Gardens, at Mölndal just outside Gothenburg, between 12 am and 4 pm on 19 June. Singing and dancing around the Midsummer Pole. The event starts at 12 am, with the raising of the pole at 2 pm. Admission: SEK 20 (about £2).

Slottsskogen Park
Bring your friends, family and a picnic basket and celebrate Midsummer beneath the oak trees in Slottsskogen Park, one of Gothenburg’s green oases. Taking place on 19 June, there will be dancing and games with traditional music from 4 pm to 5 pm and a folkdance show from 5 pm to 5.30 pm.

Trädgårdsföreningen
Come and celebrate a traditional midsummer in the citycentre of Gothenburg in the park of Trädgårdsföreningen . Enjoy singing,dancing and games, for both family and friends. Be in time to catch the best picnic spot in the green grass of the garden. Starts at 14:00 , free entrance with the Gothenburg City Pass (Göteborgspasset).
